Description
Overview	Recombinant, mouse growth differentiation factor-8 (GDF-8)/myostatin propeptide, consisting of amino acids 25-285, fused at the C-terminus to a His•Tag^® sequence, and expressed in NS0-derived mouse myeloma cells. GDF-8 is a secreted protein that is expressed during embryonic development and in adult skeletal muscle.

Biological Information
Biological activity	ED₅₀ = 0.05-0.25 µg/ml (using 40 ng/ml rmGDF-8) as measured by inhibition of rmGDF-8 activity in K562 human chronic myelogenous leukemia cells. Approximately 1 µg/ml will completely inhibit GDF-8 activity in K562 cells.
