Overview	The MILLIPLEX® MAP Multi-Species Hormone Magnetic Bead Panel is a 6-plex kit to be used for the simultaneous quantification of any or all of the following analytes in serum, plasma and cell/tissue culture samples: Cortisol, Estradiol, Testosterone, Progesterone, T3 and T4.
Background Information	Steroid and thyroid hormones are small molecule endocrine hormones secreted from adrenal glands (cortisol), ovaries (estradiol and progesterone), testes and prostate (testosterone) and the thyroid (T3 and T4). These hormones play key roles in the regulation of energy balance, mental and physical development, sex organ development, reproduction and pregnancy. MilliporeSigma has developed a multiplex assay panel for simultaneous measurement of these hormones. This multiplex assay provides researchers with quality tools for the study of the biological functions of these hormones in the reproductive cycle and in the patho-physiology of many diseases such as thyroid-related diseases (Grave’s disease and hyper/hypothyroidism), steroid-related diseases (Cushing’s syndrome) and stress related diseases. This assay is a valuable tool for studying endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC).

Application	The Multi-Species Hormone Panel, using the Luminex xMAP technology, enables the simultaneous analysis of 6 steroid/thyroid biomarkers in human serum, plasma and cell culture samples.
Key Applications	Multiplexing
Application Notes	• This is a competitive immunoassay for multiplexing. • This assay requires an extraction step for serum and plasma samples (instructions are provided in the kit protocol). • 25 uL of extracted serum or plasma is used for each sample well.• Tissue/cell culture conditioned media/supernatants may be run neat or diluted in an appropriate control media. • Each well requires 25 μL of sample, standard or control. • For optimal sensitivity, use an overnight (16-18 hour) incubation.

Biological Information
Specificity	Approximately 10% cross-reactivity to Cortisol is observed in the Progesterone assay and approximately 5% cross-reactivity to T3 is observed in the T4 assay. No other significant cross-reactivity is observed within the panel or to other similar analytes. This multi-species kit may be used to detect these six analytes in human, dog, rat, mouse, cynomolgous monkey, rhesus monkey, horse, rabbit, cat, guinea pig, pig and hamster. However, the kit was fully validated with human and canine samples only and the amount of cross-reactivity to other species tested has not been determined.
