Application Notes Western blot: 1-5 μg/mL using ECL.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Immunogen A 19 amino acid peptide sequence within the cytoplasmic domain #4 of human MCT4 (Wilson et al., 1998; Price et al., 1998).

Host Rabbit
Specificity Recognizes human Monocarboxylate Transporter 4 (MCT4). The immunogen shows no significant sequence homology with other MCT. MCT4 is prominently expressed in skeletal muscle and other cells with high glycolytic rate such as tumors cells and white blood cells suggesting an important role in lactic acid efflux.

Note: According to new nomenclature, the old MCT3 has now been reclassified as MCT4. Consult Halestrap and Price (1999) Biochem. J. 343:281-299.

Each MCT appears to have slightly different substrate and inhibitor specificities and transport kinetics, which are related to the metabolic requirements of the tissues in which it is found. The MCTs, which include MCT1 (SLC16A1; MIM 600682) and MCT2 (SLC16A7; MIM 603654), are characterized by 12 predicted transmembrane domains (Price et al., 1998 [PubMed 9425115]).[supplied by OMIM]
