Product Summary
The Parameter LTB 4 Immunoassay is a 4.5 hour forward sequential competitive enzyme immunoassay designed to measure LTB4 in cell culture supernates, serum, and plasma.
Precision
Intra-Assay Precision (Precision within an assay) Three samples of known concentration were tested on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.
Inter-Assay Precision (Precision between assays) Three samples of known concentration were tested in separate assays to assess inter-assay precision.

Recovery
The recovery of LTB4 spiked to levels throughout the range of the assay in various matrices was evaluated.
Sample Type | Average % Recovery | Range % |
Cell Culture Media (n=4) | 95 | 86-114 |
EDTA Plasma (n=4) | 91 | 82-112 |
Heparin Plasma (n=4) | 98 | 82-115 |
Serum (n=4) | 98 | 82-118 |
Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples spiked with high concentrations of LTB 4 were serially diluted with Calibrator Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.
Preparation and Storage
Background: Leukotriene B4/LTB4
Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is a major product of arachidonic acid metabolism and is formed via the 5-lipoxygenase pathway. LTB4 stimulates leukocyte functions including lysosomal enzyme release, adhesion, and aggregation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. LTB4 has been implicated as a potent mediator of inflammatory diseases and immunoregulation.
