Background: GPR17
GPR17 belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor 1 family. It is a dual specificity receptor for uracil nucleotides and cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs). GPR17 signals through G(i) and inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. GPR17 is expressed in brain, kidney, heart and umbilical vein endothelial cells. The highest level of expression is in brain. GPR17 may mediate brain damage by nucleotides and CysLTs following ischemia.
