Background: HM74A/PUMA-G/GPR109A
The low affinity and high affinity receptors for nicotinic acid (niacin) are the inhibitory G-protein coupled receptors HM74/GPR109B and HM74A/GPR109A, respectively. Binding of niacin to HM74A mediates an anti-lipolytic effect observed on adipose tissue. HM74A is also expressed on mouse splenocytes, as niacin and other vitamins can enhance the mitogenic response of lymphocytes.
